Week 11 .... December 28, 2009 ..... Madera California

          Hola

How are you all? It was so great to talk to you on Christmas and thank you for telling me that I have grown, thats the best present I could have gotten..... apart from the maple syrup :D You never know how Canadian you are till you don't have a way to get what you need.... Like Bagels, all these  bagels are well to put them in Uncle Mike's words.... not Montreal bagels. Ummm nothing has really happened since I talked to you, Sundays are great I spend 10 hours at church, I finally know how the bishop feels like. LOL.

Ummm this week we didn't do to much in terms of finding and teaching because we had christmas eve, Christmas, boxing day and zone conference. So you can imagine how effective I feel right now. Man I love Christmas but it would be easier for it not to be in the way of the work LOL !. Ummm This week I have been reading more from preach my gospel to get some ideas on how Elder Machen and I can find people and be really effective, because the way the members work is if they have a referral then they give it to you on paper, they never have one when we ask right out so I'm praying and reading so that I can get some idea of what to do to be really effective. Something that I learned this week is that people are both amazing and really taken back easy.

I had the best Christmas eve of my life with the Martinez family and then on Christmas , everything was so amazing. We had an hour were nothing was set for once because we finished everything early so the English elders called us and we went over to sing carols to the Montune family, when we had to leave they had made food for us but we were already running late so we really had to rush out. So the grandma which is kinda like Vava I think she hates me and Elder Machen because every elder in the 3 Madera wards got 10 dollars from the grandma except, you guessed it, Me and Elder Machen. So we now have someone who hates us which is kinda funny. Life is like that you know you win some, you lose a lot. That's mission life especially with the investigators. But we have 5 baptismal dates projected for January so far and were not even in January yet. We are teaching the Cultenagos family with their father now so its awesome! I love seeing how the lord has prepared people.

Everything is great, I am in love with my mission and 100% on task. Don't worry the church is true in California, and the greatest thing I'm learning here is that the fields really is white and ready to harvest.

WEEK 10 - December 21, 2009

Hola

So I'm in the field now.... and I'm loving it! I have the best mission ever!I'm in Madera for my first area and my new companion is the coolest and most obedient missionary every. His name is Elder Machen and he is a great trainer, and he is also the district leader so I have to step up my game and help him out with some stuff, which is awesome.

I'm starting to get used to my bike so I'm not saddle sore anymore.

When I was coming to Fresno I was talking with everyone and on the plane ride I talked with a man named Rapheal for the entire hour and a half about the gospel, and can you guess where he lives....... IN MADERA!!!! like 10 mins away from home so were going to go see him this week.

Ummm in other new we committed Abby one of our investigators to baptism which is sweet, I love watching the gospel bless others lives. I LOVE the people and am working my hardest, I never leave one stone unturned, work work work ,that's the secret. I know I'm what I am learning and I am so blessed to be in my mission.

We are going to call on Friday I'll be calling you between 12 and 1 our time. Thank you for all you do. Don't worry about me, the members are awesome we get feed every diner and they always go out with us and teach, they are truly humble and converted to the gospel. I love them and the investigators also, we have 6 new ones this week and I'm so happy :D Life is good, the gospel is true and the field is white already to harvest.

I'm here and loving it, I went contacting today and got my first baptism comitment! I love being a missionary. Ok in terms of writing me send everything to the mission office which is 1814 N Echo, Fresno, CA 93704. So all mail has to go there and then they will send it to me. WEEK 9 December 14th 2009

Hola!

Hey everyone , I'm leaving this Wendesday and yes I'll will be able to call you isn't that awsome! I'll call you from the airport around 9:30-10:00 utah time. I can't wait to rock it out in Fresno! I'm so excited to contact and to meet people and to share the gospel that I love so much. Thank you so much for everything and all the memories and spiritual guidance I know that like nephi because I was born of goodly parents,I'm awsome :P LOL

Ok so I'm only going have 15 mins to talk becuase I want to contact people at the airport. So if you

miss saying something I'll call you the week after at Christmas anyway. As for writing me just send everything to the mission home which is the adress you should have if you don't I'll send it next week. They will forward me my mail so just send everything there for now. Dear elders your gonna have to figure that one out I don't how it's done to send letters in the field, so good luck with that :D ( Jason doesn't know ,but I do. If you already dearelder Jason, you just contenu to dearelder him. The only differance is that you have to open an account , for just 44 cents dearelder will print and mail the letters and it will reach Jason in only two days)

If there is anyone I missed I'm sorry I either don't have the letter or just forgot to write it because email time goes by really fast.

This week I want to share with you something that I have learned that is very dear to my heart. It's that everyone knows the truth of the gospel becuase there souls remember it from when we all made the choice to follow God's plan. So we are just reminding them and that's why people feel they have an empty hole, it is because they are missing the truth that there Father has sent for them to rememeber. So this year for Christmas I would like you to think of anyone who is in pain or going through a trail because that is who the Lord is preparing to hear the gospel. So Think of one person who fits in this or anyone and give them the ultimate Christmas gift. The gift that keeps on giving. The truth of the restored gospel that Christ has given us. Out of anyone I can remember who maybe open to it would be John (our back nieghbor). Who ever you dicide to do it have the missionaries involved and do a family home evening. Please at least talk to John about doing something like that for Christmas and maybe even at festivus or something just go out and share. President Hinckey said :" Every member a misionary" so please do that for me this year thats all I would like for Christmas.

WEEK 8 - DECEMBER 8 2009

Hola Famliy

I GOT MY FLIGHT PLANS THIS PAST FIRDAY!!!!. I leave the MTC December 16th at 8 in the morning so it's coming up fast and to tell you the truth I'm freaking out with excitement. I can't wait to be in the field and be working myself harder then ever for my God :D. It's gonna be amazing!

Ok mom I'm sorry that I haven't answer most of your questions in the past weeks so I'm gonna answer them all now.

First off, I'm doing great I'm fine, healthy and growing everyday. Spanish is coming but I still have ALOT of work to do, but I'm getting it its pretty simple and I'm glad I can understand it :D. Ummm I need some money on my debit card because the luggage is 40 dollars and because of what I have had to buy in the MTC , I don't have much left .

Oh and yes I did get my package. Thank you so much for the laundry stuff and especially the photo book. I love it so much thank you, thank you, thank you. I look at it at least once before I go to bed and it fills me with such joy and love for you all. Oh and thank you for putting the photos of Brigitte and I in there I am so thankful for that and especially for her. Thanks for the loving reminder of everyone back home. Yes I mailed Brigitte's package. Can you dear elder me when she gets the shirt and also the pictures because I wanna know if they made it to her.

Now I just used the word pictures and I know your foaming at the mouth for some but don't worry I put in a good word with the big man in red and he's gonna get them to you as soon as possible. All the stuff that I have for you and dad is being sent this week and should get there for Christmas, so don't open it until then ok............... like your actually gonna wait your probably gonna tare the package open as soon as its in your hands.... LOL!!!!.

Yes I wrote uncle Mike , just to let you know he is doing good :D. Did you get my last email? Say hi to Mike and Kim for me cuz well I'm not there. Oh and make sure to keep Mike a way from the computer you know how he gets and remember above all else to keep dad and Mike and Ben away from the game risk....... cuz no one wins when you've been playing for 3 hours and it's 1 in the morning and there are 3 benjimites involved. LOL

All right I think that covers most of that .Ummmm oh yea so from here on out I would ask that everyone please dearelder me , because I wont get anything handed written letters in time before I leave the MYC and forwarding mail is not the MTC's strong suit. I can get dearelder letters up until Tuesday morning. Thank you and love you all.

The message I have for you all this week is that I'm home sick, not for my home in Montreal but for my home with Heavenly Father. I know that I don't remember life before this but I have grown to understand so much in the past 8 weeks that I miss our Father in heaven. It's awesome that He is there and loves us so much . I want to say that He has given me everything that I hold dear in this life and loves me enough to constantly bless me.

I want to thank you all for your shining example to me and how awesome you are I love you so much you're all great and amazing. I FLIPN LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!!!

This week please read alma 7:11-13, D&C 45:4-5, and John 16:33. These scriptures are all about the atonement and as I have studied it these past days more in depth, I have gained a great and deep love for my Saviour Jesus Christ and the love of the Father that is in the plan. Everything is all right because of Christ so never forget that. I watched the testaments this week and it got to the part were Christ comes and says Helum and he heals him (you know the big heart pounding part). So as I'm doing my crying thing I look and Christ isn't healing Helum, when I watched it ,I'm not kidding you I saw Christ come to Vovo and heal him. I saw Vovo get heal by the hand of our master. I know that this can happen because we have his priesthood. So please use what we have use our saviours touch thorough dad. Get dad to give vovo a blessing of healing because I know it will work. He may have gotten one already but please tell him to do it again. Vovo may not be a Mormon outside but in his heart is. I know that Christ will take care of the rest.

WEEK 7 -NOVEMBER 30th 2009

Hola Familia!

Hey everyone, how goes life? I'm doing great all is well I can eat normally again and its awesome, and yes mom I ate pie and yes It was as awesome as I remember pie being. Thank you for hanging out with Brigitte and from what I heard you had a great time. Thanks for the comments on New moon I love dad's the best and I think its true.

Ummmm this week has gone by so fast it was awesome. On Tuesday Elder Dallin H Oaks talked to us and blew us away! then on thanksgiving guess who showed up...... That's right mister Book of Mormon himself Elder Jeffrey R. Holland. And then we did some fun service project, making first aid kits and thanksgiving dinner was assume. Thanksgiving was so fun, I am actually enjoying my time here in the MTC. Ok so you want to know about my days , I'm sending you a letter with pictures and one of them is the schedule I have had for the last 7 weeks of my life. Its crazy to think that this time in 2 weeks I will be getting ready to leave for FRESNO!!!!!! I can't wait its gonna be awesome I can finally start talking to people who don't know what I'm going to say next with the lessons.

Oh and dad I know I'm focused on the work but......... I WILL ALWAYS LOVE FOOTBALL AND SWEET-BEANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO ALS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! tell Ben C that I'm proud of him and that I wish I could be there to see them come home and also for the grey cup parade. But life goes on.

Anyway so back to matters of the spirit. I learned the coolest thing this week, well I knew it but I never thought of it this way. John 16:33 where Christ says be of good cheer for I have over come the world. So basically I realized we win, period that's it Christ says it right there good guys win, so Satan can eat it. It's sad because he can't do anything about it I mean like come back to the fold. But he made his choice and now he will lose the big one. So my message this week is the greatest thing I can think of which is good guys win bad guys lose and the church is the only way to fight for God is to come to the Church of Christ.
To close to day I'm going to say my new favourite sentence "Jesus Christ, Our Master" I just love the truth and simplicity of that sentence. Its amazing and true :D

I'm finally updating Jason's blog , Jason had his Gallbladder removed on November 16th. He is doing very well and in fact is back to normal . Here are his last three email. We keep it quit because we didn't want his grand-mother to worry.

Week 4 - November 9th 2009

Hola Everyone

Thank for all the love :D. Mom it was great to hear from you today not only in the email but in the call. I'm glad that you had that advice for me. So like dad has said my favourite Scripture is 2 Timothy 1:7. Ummm not to much went on this week the days kinda run together and the MTC is getting repetitive, so to switch it up I'm having surgery on Monday :P Ain't I a stinker. I'm having a great time though I'm learning everyday and I'm so glad that I'm here it's amazing the spirit and power that is within the MTC I love this place.

Ummmm to answer your question dad they don't let us play ultimate Frisbee anymore because points=contention apparently. I think it's dumb but you know some stupid elder did something dumb and now we all suffer. I play more volleyball, and we are starting to play more kickball.

Ummm as for growing this week lets see..... Oh I'm finally starting to grasp the atonement, I mean I always knew what it was but you know you just have thoughts moments when your like...... OOOOOHHHHHHH now I get it. Anyway John 10:17-18 is my favourite example of the truth of the Saviour :D it's awesome. Mom I want you to do something for me, have the missionaries start teaching Vovo, I want him to be with us for ever and I have dedicated my life for 2 years for the Lord and because of this I have promised him this diligence and I know, I know without a doubt that Vovo will be baptized before his death . I know this mom so please try your hardest because I want to see him with me in the celestial room when I come back. If it doesn't happen now then I'm gonna teach him with I get back and with the combine strength of me and Ben we will bring Vovo to that celestial room.

And Dad , Uncle Mike is going to come back to.(not Utah Mike) I know this .He will come back and be will understand that he needs this. Never give up, that is the message I want to leave this week, if we give up Satan has won and I know he is not getting me, and with every fibre of my being he is not getting my family, I promise you right now with all the strength and power I have as a missionary of God that we will all be together in the celestial kingdom, Satan will not win, not against us. I love you all so much and thank you for bringing me up the right way in the gospel. You have no idea how much I love you for this, and because you have chosen to raise me right not only you are blessed but the people of Fresno are able to be blessed 2. So they thank you and I thank you.

Week 5- November 16th 2009

Hola

How is everything? I'm doing all right there keeping me in a room in the clinic during the day and at night I'm aloud to roam free with my companion. I feel fine other then the cuts in me but this pain killer is awesome I really am not hurting to much other then when I change position in sitting or walking or lying down. So that's the jest of it for me now I sleep most of the day but tomorrow I'm going to try and study a bit then I'm gonna try and get back to class on Thursday.

Sorry I couldn't e-mail yesterday with me going in for surgery and all I really had no time to write. Not gonna lie, waking up after going under sux hardcore. Please do not, I repeat DO NOT send me food for the next little while. I'm surviving on bread and crackers and Gatorade and water and some pudding from time to time. It's all right, feels like I'm dieting again......lol...... I actually dieting inside just a tad. But the church is true and the work press forward. I cant wait till I can go back to class and get back into the mission routine again. I thank you and everyone for there prayers they really helped me through this. All is well, life goes on, the pain may be here but it will soon leave and all this will become a memory. A piece of my past that will add to the missionary I am becoming. I am really grateful for the experience even though I have pain I know this is but for a short time. nothing can hurt me because all I need to remember is 2 Nephi 33:10-11. This is one of the most important things that I have ever read, I love it and love all of you.

Week 6 - November 26th 2009

Hola All!!!

Hey so thanks for telling me about new moon.............not. LOL! Dad not gonna lie I read your email part of new moon to all my friends and we all laughed hardcore. And the best was everyone said that now they understand were I get my well......... persona of funny... I'm sry I can't "english" that great anymore.LOL !

So this week was my first week without a galbladder and the first 3 days I spent resting in the sick bay at the clinic we have here in the MTC. But now I'm back in class with no pain meds, eating whatever my heart desires. I'm pretty much 100% again and I know that it is because of God and that he loves me and because I have work to do. I had the opportunity this week to watch an MTC fireside talk given by none other then my favourite General Authority President Uchtdorf! It was awsome. D&C 90:11 was our scripture it is so amazing he bore a super powerful testimony on Preach my Gospel and on that Scripture.

I'm having a blast I'm so bless to be able to hear about modern men of God and the true power they have. My favorite line that he said is that Satan will have no power over you if you build your testimony :D. Thats awsome all I have to say is I'm so happy that every step closer to my Heavenly Father is another kick in satans face. I love being able to do so much good for such a great cause. I love this work so much it fills me with a joy that I hope will last through out eternity.

This gospel is such a blessing, I'm so happy all the time and my friends say that I' am a really great example to them.

When ever we are broken God will fix us. I know this is true. We just have to keep pressing forward, because of the potential we have. Satan will try everything to stop God's army, but he will not in D&C 88:110-116. That is our destiny... our potential and I know that I will be there and you all will be there and we will fight along side Micheal and completely destroy Satans army. So take that Satan. Remember that you have more power that Satan in one pinky because you have that pinky......LOL.

I love you all and hope that everything rocks on the home front :D

Tell Vovo to get better and to start reading to book of mormon with his free time or mom read it to when he is dizzy and has to lie down. Share 2 Nephi 33:10. That right there changes lives.

Tell Brigitte I love her and that she is one of the greatest things that has ever happened to me. Tell her I miss her but that God is with both of us so through him we are always connected, all we have to do is stay faithful. For the past few weeks we had been asking Jason a few questions , but we were not getting any answers . So last Monday Jay sent Jason this email, and here is the email and answer.

Hey son,

Did you get my pie? I hope you liked it, and I hope you shared? We are so proud of you. Mom was finally starting to feel better so she sent you a little package too, you should get it in the next few days. How are you and your companion getting along? Do you get the Dear Elder letters I send you during the week, or do you get everything on your P-day? Let me know which General Authorities have visited the MTC since you’ve been there, do you see one each week? Are you still singing in the choir?

I know too many questions, but we do want to know how you are doing. Ben and Courtney went to the Halloween dance on Friday. I thought it would be fun if we all went to a scary movie together on Halloween . Mom and I left the movie after the first minute, it was so disgusting and gross, we got our money back. Thomas is hanging in there despite the terrible disease that has come upon him. He sleeps a lot on your bed. Ben Cahoon gave an awesome fireside last week, and this week he obtained another 1,000 yard season, I hope they can carry the momentum into the Grey Cup, they are due for a win. We haven’t been to Concordia yet for your sweat shirt, but we will. How are you feeling? Make sure that you let mom know how you are doing, you know how she worries.

Read D&C 122:5-9 if you get discouraged, it always helped me to put things in perspective when I thought I had things tough. Try not to think of us, the time will pass quicker than you can believe. It’s already been 3 weeks. We love you, don’t forget to read those points I gave you everyday.

Hola Everyone!!!!!

Hey so hows home life ?..... cuz it's probably not as cool mission life. Yes I did get the pie and thank you so much for it, but no I haven't brought myself to eat it yet because I haven't been feeling that great. But now that my tummy is fine so I think I'm gonna try some of it, because you know how much I love pie :D. Elder Kirk and I are basicly best friends its super awsome we have such a good time. The mail comes everyday twice a day and then once on saturday and not on sunday. The only time I'm aloud to write letters is monday during laundry. Oh so 2 things....1 we got a new disrict and there pretty cool, for some reason everyone thinks I'm cool.... its wierd its like when I left the world I suddenly become popular..... LIKE HARRY POTTER! Sweetbeans! There was no choir this week so I didn't get to sing but there is next week so I can't wait for that. Ummmmm general authorities come like once every 6 weeks, so last Tuesday and it was Elder L Tom Perry . It's was so cool the spirit that he brought was so amazing!!!! I am loving the MTC so much. The spirit rocks. I know that my Father in Heaven is with me through all things and D&C 84:80 gives me a great comfort.

Hey Mom, Dad, and Ben!

Its that time of week again :D I get to write you!!! The MTC is sweet I'm loving it so much I have the greatest friends in the world. Ummm this week was a little hard, tell Ben that even though you go into the MTC your still not safe from the adversary. He will always be beating on the saints..... especially the Lords missionaries. He uses ourselves against us and tries to make us dwell on the past. But something I learned is that if God would have wanted us to look back on ourselves all the time he would have made eyes in the back of our head.

The branch president in the mission is amazing he is truly called of God. They have so much power its amazing. I am no longer beating myself up and doubting myself, I am moving forward because that is the way you can punch Satan in the face and win. Awesome and yes you guys can quote me on that its so true , remember the past and learn and grow but don't dwell because if the Lord has forgiven you why can't you? I understand that we go through these times to strengthen us. I am fully committed to this work and this gospel I love being a missionary so much!!!!! Speaking from experience tell Ben to take every opportunity to share the gospel because it becomes on of the ways that Satan makes you beat yourself up, he uses the knowledge of our missed opportunities. So go out, do not be afraid because this is the only thing that matters. This gospel is for everyone so we must proclaim it from every corner, every street, and with every opportunity that Jesus is the Christ , we have the only true faith there is no maybes or tip toeing. This is true in Eph. 4:5 the Lord proclaims One Lord, One Faith , One Baptism! so that is why we must share what we have because we are the only way that some people will get to come to learn of the truth.

Never be afraid to stand as a witness in all places, the Lord will give us the strength when we need it. The one thing I wish that I would have done is whenever someone talks down of God or Christ you must stand and shout in the name of Christ that they must repent and know that He is almighty and all powerful. Go forth and exhort, but remember to do it all in love because God is love so that is how we must show the word the truth. Through love and exhorting. I focused on Alma 37-38 this week its amazing the councel that Alma gives his sons.

I really went off on a tangent there SORRY :P But I want you to know that its all true and its what we must do.... the Prophets say every member a missionary. So even though I'm set apart to do this work you still have the Lords power to do this mighty work and wonder. I really have no time this week, so I'll write more later. But I want you to know that I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!!!!I miss you but I'm starting to not, don't take this as a bad thing its because I'm thrusting myself into the work of the Lord and he is moulding me into the man that I should be.

Be happy because I'm safe and happy and loving every minute of this.
Rejoice because Jesus is the Christ and we have the only true power on the earth today to proclaim is word and save our brothers and sister from the evil one, who is Satan.

Go forward not dwelling on the past be like the anti Nepali Lehi's and bury you swords leaving them in the past were they belong.

PLEASE THANK EVERY ONE THE WROTE ME , TELL THEM THAT THEIR LETTERS MEANT MORE TO ME THAN I CAN SAY. THIS FIRST WEEK WOULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH HARDER WITHOUT THIER AND LOVE AND SUPPORT . HEY, Hola!!!!

How are you guys???? I only get 30 minutes to write every week so sadly I won't be able to write to anyone except you guys and Ben. So tell everyone that I LOVED the letters and thank them for there suport it really helped me in the first days of the MTC.

I LOVE IT HERE!!! My district is amazing and I'm learning and growing so much :). So I'm here and I'm safe and its such a blessing to be here. Thank you mom and dad so much for being with me every step of my life so that I was able to be here. I'm teaching with the spirit even now in the MTC and its so much fun. I have developed a love for personal study and the spirit, they are so amazing I feel it everyday the spirit is so strong during our firesides . I joined choir.... dada you were right we are singing "Jesus once of Humble Birth "and there is such a spirit and truth in that song. I LOVE MY MISSION!!!! I have the coolest companion his name is Elder Kirk and he is funny and really spiritual , in teaching and compainon study we compelment each other so well .I know that our companionship was forordained of God because we each have something to teach each other.

I was reading D&C 88 fouces on verse 64 and link that to D&C 75:10-11. These scriptres have such power I have a million scriptures and thoughts I want to share with you guys but I'm running low on time because there a timer and I had to register so you guy can e-mail me but it would be better to go through "dear elder" tell everyone to do that because I have only 30 mins to read and reply so only you and Ben can write me here tell everyone to use "dear elder"!!! Oh and I love getting mail , so tell EVERYONE TO MAIL because I have a Utah comp. and he gets mail like eveyday. Ummm oh tell Brigitte I sent here a letter today by mail and to either write back through post or dear elder. Tell Uncle Mike (Utah Mike) That the cookies were awsome and to please send more. The MTC food good but heavy on the system. I'm only gonna have time to send my love.

So tell everyone I say HOLA and THANK YOU and that I'll be thinking about them.
